Why We Like This Vegan Corn Ribs Air Fryer Recipe
Allergen friendly air fryer corn ribs started as a Tik Tok recipe craze for Mexican street corn style Corn Ribs. They have made their way into one of the most popular fall side dishes. This recipe has made its way from social media to regular meal rotations everywhere for summer and fall.
Air frying the corn in ribs makes a super quick side dish that adds a lot of flavour to our meal plan and is easier for the family to eat than regular corn on the cob. Our vegan corn ribs air fryer recipe is a bit different, we do not use a creamy sauce or cheese crumbles for our allergen friendly version. If you would like to add them to make this more like Mexican street corn, use a dairy free cheese crumble and a vegan mayonnaise and chilli sauce.

Ingredients

The Ingredient Low Down
Corn on the Cob
A nice sweet corn is what we get for this recipe. In Western Canada the Taber corn is known for being a great variety for corn on the cob. The Peaches and cream or supersweet varieties work really well as allergen friendly air fryer corn ribs.
Avocado Oil
We like to use avocado oil for our air fryer recipes but any high smoke point oil, like canola, will work. Just make sure it is free from soy and soy oils, if you have issues with soy.
Salt & Pepper, Chilli Powder, and Cumin
Make sure they are free from the top 9 allergens by checking with the manufacturer. Dried spices work best for this vegan corn ribs air fryer recipe. They can have cross contact with allergens in the processing and packaging, which is why it is best to check with the producer to see if they are safe for you.
Lime Zest & Lime Juice
To make things easier and cheaper use both from the same lime.
Cilantro
To garnish allergen friendly air fryer corn ribs, a handful of fresh cilantro chopped is great to add a fresh finishing flavour and colour to the dish.

Instructions/ Directions and Tips
Cutting the Corn
1 -Remove the husk and silks of the corn on the cob. Wash them well.
2- Cut the end of the ear to trim it flat on the end it would join the stalk.
3- Cut the ear of corn in half across it to give 2 similar sides of half corn cob rounds. Cut the ear perpendicular to its length.
4- Each of those rounds then gets cut in half lengthwise and then again one more time lengthwise to make 8 ribs from each original corn cob.
Seasoning the Corn
5- Place the cut corn ribs in a large bowl and drizzle on the avocado oil. If there are too many ribs to be able to mix and coat them properly, mix them in two batches.
6- Mix the corn and oil well with your hands until all the ribs are evenly coated with oil.
7- Sprinkle on half the Salt, Pepper, Chilli Powder, Cumin, and Lime Zest. Mix well to season all the oiled ribs in the bowl.
Cooking the Allergen Friendly Air Fryer Corn Ribs
8- Preheat the Air fryer to 400 F for 5 mins.
9- Put in a single layer of corn ribs and cook at 400 F for a total of 12 minutes. Turn the ribs in the basket at the halfway point, 6 minutes, and return to the air fryer to finish cooking.
10- Remove from the air fryer onto a plate and sprinkle with lime juice and chopped cilantro to serve.
Make ahead tip: The allergen friendly air fryer corn ribs can be cut, oiled, and spiced. Then put the gluten free sweetcorn ribs in an airtight container and store up to 12 hours before air frying.
Low Food Waste Tips
For the lime, use one lime. Soak and clean it to take any wax off it. Zest the lime then cut and juice it for the finishing of the side dish.

We cook these dairy free corn ribs up the night before and on the odd chance that we have leftovers we send one or two ribs in the kid’s lunches.
